Why I Stopped Hating Orthodox Jews and Judaism

Since 2007, Jew in the City has been reversing negative associations about religious Jews by highlighting an approach based on kindness, tolerance, sincerity, and critical thinking and making engaging and meaningful Orthodox Judaism known and accessible. At first, we thought we only needed to disseminate this information to non-Orthodox Jews. Several years ago, we sadly discovered how many people who were raised religious have negative associations with Judaism as well. To answer this call, in 2016 we founded Makom, which helps former and questioning Haredi Jews find a positive place in Orthodoxy. Makom offers warm and accepting social support, intellectually honest classes and discussion, and shabbos placement and shabbatons so members can explore a range of Orthodox communities and philosophies.

Our JITC Content hundreds of thousands of Jews From afar every year, while our Makom programming reaches over 100 Jews up close each year.

It is through supporters like you that we keep our content and programming free to anyone who is searching; those that don’t understand Orthodox Judaism and those that have been distanced from it. Your donation will go directly to creating more original content on our site, help expand our social media reach, develop more programming and expand our resources for members of Makom.

We are changing lives, but we need your help. Your donation, big or small helps us to continue the important work that we are doing. Please CLICK HERE to donate TO OUR ANNUAL CAMPAIGN now.
