Katz Hillel Day School Graduate Wins National Writing Contest
Ariella Mayer, a recent eighth grade graduate of Katz Hillel Day School of Boca Raton, has achieved national recognition for her winning essay submission in the Better Together program’s Better2Write competition. Ariella’s essay was awarded first place from the 600 submissions entered into this national writing contest. Ariella, who will attend Katz Yeshiva High School of South Florida located in Boca Raton in the fall, was one of 20 participants in KHDS’ Better Together program, which is a two-year program supported by a national foundation and designed to encourage meaningful intergenerational interaction.

Back in January of 2019, Akram started spending Shabbos with his colleagues and friends. He said he wanted to learn more about the Jewish community. During one of Akram’s first Shabbos, he was at Tova Chatzinoff-Rosenfeld’s house in Midwood. Everyone was eating and having a great time. The patrolmen of the synagogue right downstairs ran up saying the synagogue was flooding.

Mikvah the Musical
The theater’s newest play, “Mikva the Musical,” which breaks that mold, is playing in Teaneck next week for women only. The show started off as “The Mikva Monologues,” a collection of stories about Orthodox women’s experiences using the ritual bath, and became so much more.
