Rabbi Zev Kahn of Jewish Education Team in Chicago is making your Thanksgiving table less divisive, thanks to his program Clean Speech Illinois. This program is designed to teach mindful speech, fostering ways of interacting with loved ones and strangers alike which are less harmful and more productive. It starts with learning to be a better listener. Kahn says, “It’s not about restricting speech, it’s about expanding our speech, enhancing our speech, allowing people who are having disagreements to be able to disagree in a respectful way.” The program is being taught in schools in the Chicago area, and the curriculum is available online for anyone who wants to access it. Kahn is taking the initiative public just in time for Thanksgiving, when many families will be divided on politics, vaccines and other hot topics. Read more here.
