For the second year in a row, Jew in the City is hosting a panel on Jewish representation at Sundance Film Festival on Sunday, January 21 at 11:30AM. This year’s panel is called: Sects, Lies and Videotape: Debunking deadly tropes about Jews and Israel in TV, film and media. Its panelists included Israeli actress, producer and activist, Noa Tisbhy, and JITC founder and executive director, Allison Josephs. The panel will be moderated by Pasadena Magazine Editor in Chief, Malina Saval.
Jewish power and blood libels are millennia old tropes. Jews as “white Europeans” is a neo-Nazi canard that has shockingly been bolstered in Hollywood. This panel will explore the origin, danger, and use of these myths against Jews and Israel in TV and film and how we can dismantle them. To get instructions on how to register for the panel, please RSVP here. Please note, this event is first come first served. Last year’s panel was standing room only!
