19-year-old Shalhevet graduate Gabbi Stein has earned the rank of Eagle Scout by the Scouts BSA (formerly known as Boy Scouts of America) program. Soil conservation, robotics and pioneering were the badges she achieved on her way to becoming the first Orthodox Jewish girl to earn the honor. She earned acclaim last year by creating a COVID-19 guide for her community as a Scouts project and may one day help other scouts by becoming a junior assistant scoutmaster. Now in Israel on a gap-year program, the Pico-Robertson native says of the experience, “It pushed me outside of my comfort zone… After being uncomfortable for a really long time you realize how rewarding it is. If I could do that, I could do a whole lot of other things.” Read more here.
