JITC’s Norman Lear Center Study at Official Sundance Film Festival Panel

Several weeks ago JITC (Jewish Institute for Television & Cinema) Hollywood Bureau hosted an official panel at Sundance Film Festival on Jewish representation in media. We presented the findings from our groundbreaking study conducted with the Norman Lear Center at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

The research examines how general Jewish characters—and also Orthodox Jews and Judaism —are portrayed in television, and highlights the impact these portrayals have on public perception.

The panel drew a full house and an engaged audience eager to explore how Jewish stories are being told on screen today. Together we discussed the challenges of persistent stereotypes, the importance of nuanced representation, and the opportunities for more authentic Jewish storytelling in Hollywood.

It was a privilege to bring this cutting-edge research to such an illustrious forum and to contribute to the broader industry conversation about representation.

We’re excited to now share the full video of the discussion so you can watch the conversation in its entirety.
