Following Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the New York City mayoral race, JITC founder and executive director Allison Josephs joined ILTV News to discuss what this political turning point means for Jews in New York and around the world.
In the interview, Josephs spoke candidly about the climate among New York’s Jewish residents in the aftermath of the election — the growing concern over antisemitic rhetoric in public life, and why she believes Jews should be thinking proactively about their future, including the possibility of building new lives in Israel.
She also discussed Jew in the City’s viral #LikeAJew campaign, which has reached millions across social media for reframing Jewish identity with pride and authenticity. “We have to keep fighting for better representation,” Josephs said, “and also remembering who we are.”
Watch Allison’s full conversation with ILTV to hear her take on the new political landscape, Jewish resilience, and what comes next for our community.

“The rise of Zohran Mamdani in New York is probably inline with God’s plan for the Jews in diaspora. Jeremiah 16:16 But now I will send for many fishermen ,” declares the LORD, “and they will catch them. After that I will send for many hunters , and they will hunt them down on every mountain and hill and from the crevices of the rocks, I see this is God’s way to bring back the Jews to Eretz Israel. First the “fishermen” to invite Jews in diaspora to return to Israel (thru Aliyah) , and later God sends “hunters” (anti semitism) to hunt the rest to force the Israelites back to their home land. God wants all the Jews in the diaspora to go back to Eretz Israel the Promise Land. The rise of global Anti Semitism is the “hunters” mentioned in Jeremiah 16:16 “
