“Friends” Writer Jeff Astrof Wins At JITC’s 2nd Jewish Media Awards

At the 2nd annual Jewish Media Awards, held at Lincoln Center on November 12, 2024, showrunner, TV writer and executive producer Jeff Astrof was honored as an Orthodox Jewish All Star for his outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.

During his acceptance speech, Jeff—best known for his work on Friends and as the co-creator of Trial & Error—shared how his Jewish observance has shaped his life and career. “When I started keeping Shabbos, my dad was worried about my career,” he said. “And I’m very, very happy to say that my career has only gone up since.”

Through his decades in Hollywood, Jeff has shown that success and Torah values don’t have to be in conflict—they can go hand in hand.
