Western Australia’s Supreme Court Adds Orthodox Jewish Judge

For the first time, an Orthodox Jew is being appointed to the Supreme Court in Western Australia. Rabbi Marcus Solomon is an attorney, legal educator and Jewish educator, as well as a leader in the Perth Jewish community, having established the Beit Midrash of Western Australia in 1993. Western Australia Attorney-General John Quigley said, “It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Mr. Solomon to the bench of the Supreme Court. He is not only an eminently qualified advocate and lawyer but he has also demonstrated his commitment to public service through his roles in the education and mentoring of his fellow practitioners… and his advisory and honorary positions in a variety of Jewish educational institutions.” Read more here.
